Two kayaks gliding quietly beside a pod of dolphins, a moment where adventure, patience, and respect for wildlife come together on the west coast of Mauritius.
01 / Origin
Yanature was officially founded in 2014 by Henri Fayolle, Nicolas Quéland, and Yan de Maroussem, bringing together their complementary experience, vision, and energy. The story, however, began much earlier: Yan had already been guiding since 2004, building deep local knowledge, trust, and a strong reputation in Mauritius’ outdoor adventure scene. The creation of Yanature in 2014 marked the moment this guiding expertise evolved into a structured company, shaped by the combined input of the three founders.

02 / Led by
Our mission is simple: to help people discover Mauritius differently through guided outdoor experiences that are safe, authentic, and deeply connected to the island.

Kayaking towards Île aux Bénitiers and Crystal Rock, one of the most beautiful ways to experience the west coast of Mauritius from the water.
04 / Craft
A good guide reads a group, the terrain, the clouds, the water level, the heat, the hesitation before a step. The route matters. The rhythm matters more.
Image note
More than showing the way, our guides are there every step of it, offering a steady hand, practical support, and the confidence to move safely through Mauritius’ wild places.
05 / Experiences
Our experiences move through the different textures of Mauritius: sunrise kayaking, dolphin encounters from the water, technical canyoning, iconic hikes, forest viewpoints, family e-bike rides and quieter places that only make sense with someone who knows them.

Tamarind Falls, one of Mauritius’ most spectacular natural playgrounds, where every step feels like a deeper immersion into the island’s wild side.
06 / Attention
We prefer experiences where guides can notice people properly: confidence, fitness, curiosity, fear of heights, love of details, children who need space, travellers who want the story behind the view.

Sunrise on the Tamarin River, with Rempart Mountain rising in the background a quiet moment where the west coast of Mauritius reveals its wilder, more peaceful side.
07 / Responsibility
Every route depends on fragile places: rivers after rain, dry ridges in the sun, endemic forests, lagoons and communities around them. Our job is to guide without treating the island like scenery to consume.
Image note
From the heights of Le Morne, the view opens onto the lagoon, a striking blend of turquoise water, shallow sandbanks, and endless ocean that captures the raw beauty of Mauritius’ west coast.
08 / Today
Today, Yanature carries that field knowledge into a more refined guest experience, one where every detail, from preparation to guidance, is designed to make people feel informed, confident, and connected before they even step onto the trail, river, or mountain.
