If you’re looking for an authentic nature experience in Mauritius, I can’t recommend Yanature’s Curated Bird Watching hike highly enough. This is so much more than an immersive journey into the unique biodiversity of the Black River Gorges National Park. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, sharing fascinating stories about the island’s endemic bird species as well as Mauritian cultural insights. Their enthusiasm was engaging throughout, and they had an amazing ability to anticipate bird behaviour. The trail itself was gentle, peaceful, and included spectacular vistas, with breathtaking viewpoints over the Black Forest Gorges National Park. We were fortunate enough to observe several iconic endemic birds, including the Pink Pigeon, Echo Parakeet, Mauritius Kestrel, Mauritius Cuckooshrike, and Mauritius Bulbul. I never tired of it; every observation felt special. There was never any rush; the experience felt thoughtfully curated for outdoor enthusiasts as well as both experienced and complete beginner birders. Yanature has created a truly memorable experience that combines expert guiding, conservation education, and the natural beauty of Mauritius into one unforgettable morning. If you love wildlife, photography, or simply want to experience a different side of the island away from the beaches, this tour is an absolute must. I would happily do it again.
