Overview
The seaplane taxis out across the turquoise shallows in front of LUX* Grand Gaube, gathers speed and lifts off the water, and within a minute the whole north-east lagoon is laid out under the wing. Every aircraft is a two-seater, so you fly beside the pilot with nothing between you and the view, and couples or friends can book two seaplanes and fly side by side. Five flights are on offer, from a fifteen-minute circuit of Île d'Ambre to a hundred-minute journey down the east coast and around the south to the underwater waterfall of Le Morne, and the pilot points out the reefs, islets and lagoons as they pass.

VerifiedIsland Wings has flown sightseeing flights over Mauritius for twenty-five years, starting with a single introductory seaplane flight and growing into a small fleet of amphibious and conventional microlights. The seaplanes take off from the turquoise lagoon in front of LUX* Grand Gaube on the north-east coast, and the runway flights leave from the Mon Loisir sugar estate airstrip near Rivière du Rempart, which the team shares with Skydive Mauritius.
