Planning an activity for New Year 2027 starts with the real departure calendar. Keep 1 January relaxed if you celebrated late, and choose a confirmed outing for the day when everyone can enjoy it.

Date

The first two days of 2027 are public holidays in Mauritius. After the countdown, the island’s new year is best understood through family time, shared meals and a slower start, with practical arrangements made before the holiday begins.

Meaning and traditions

Both 1 and 2 January are public holidays. New Year is a good example of why a cultural calendar needs a practical companion. A hotel celebration, a family meal and a public beach gathering are different arrangements; none tells you whether the shop, museum or restaurant you want will open.

If you arrive during these days, decide where you will eat, how you will reach your accommodation and what can wait until later. Keep the first full day close to your base. Book any particular festive dinner against its actual menu and terms, and avoid a tight departure the next morning. Travelling with children or preferring a quieter evening is a useful reason to ask about the setting before choosing it.

Two holiday days, several ways to spend them

Friday 1 January and Saturday 2 January form one holiday period, but they are separate from the evening of Thursday 31 December. A New Year’s Eve dinner booking does not automatically include breakfast, a New Year’s Day brunch or transport the following day. Make those choices individually, particularly if you are changing accommodation or arriving after an overnight flight.

A family beach day, lunch near your accommodation or a quiet walk can give the year a gentle beginning. Choose the place for the facilities your group needs, including shade, toilets and a convenient return journey. Keep beach access and hotel access separate. Being able to reach the coast does not give you access to a resort’s pool, restaurant event or private celebration.

Planning your visit

Compare meeting times with the actual end of your evening, not just the time dinner begins. An early boat or outdoor departure is a poor fit after a late countdown. A later date can give you more time for breakfast, preparation and the drive. The holiday itself does not establish which activities operate.

Andeor offers experiences through its partners. Check the published departure, party size, meeting point and inclusions before booking. Where transport is needed, Andeor can arrange it through Seke subject to confirmation. A festive restaurant booking and an activity reservation remain separate unless the offer explicitly combines them.
