How to Choose a Mauritius Fishing Charter
Compare private lagoon, offshore and overnight fishing charters by departure point, time aboard, included equipment and what suits your group.

For a beginner-friendly Mauritius fishing charter, choose the sheltered lagoon outing from Pointe d'Esny. Choose a same-day offshore charter from Pointe d'Esny or Black River if fishing beyond the reef is the priority. Choose the Grand Baie overnight trip only if everyone wants a full night at sea. Andeor offers all four as private-group charters through local partners.
Choose the departure point before the duration
Start with where you are staying, then decide how much of the day everyone wants to spend aboard. The choices here depart from Pointe d'Esny in the south-east, Black River on the west coast and Grand Baie in the north. Compare the whole outing, including travel to the meeting point, rather than choosing a four-hour charter and treating it as four hours away from your hotel.
Lagoon fishing from Pointe d'Esny
This four-hour charter meets at Pointe d'Esny Beach, with departures at 07:00 and 13:00 for a private group of up to six. It suits beginners who want instruction while trolling and casting inside the reef. Rods, bait, drinks and snorkelling gear are included. A snorkelling stop depends on conditions, so choose this for the fishing rather than making a swim essential to the day.
Both Pointe d'Esny fishing outings welcome children and carry child life vests; every guest counts towards the six-person limit. For a family trying fishing together, the lagoon is the more sheltered starting point. A custom two-hour sunset session from 17:00 to 19:00 can also be requested through Andeor, with its price confirmed separately. It is not a standard four-hour departure.

Offshore fishing from Pointe d'Esny
The offshore charter uses the same beach meeting point and takes a private group of up to six. Both options depart at 06:00. Four hours brings you back around 10:00; eight hours brings you back around 14:00. A skipper fishes with the group, and tackle, bait, fishfinder guidance and drinks are included. This is the south-east choice for a group specifically wanting to fish beyond the reef.
Choose four hours if an early fishing session fits your holiday better than a full day aboard. Choose eight hours if everyone wants more time to travel farther offshore and work more ground. The extra hours buy time and flexibility, not a promised catch.
Offshore fishing from Black River
For a west-coast departure, the Black River charter offers five or eight hours of private deep-water fishing. Meet at Le Morne Anglers Club on Colonel Dean Avenue in Grande Riviere Noire. The exact meeting time is confirmed when the booking is accepted. This is worth comparing with Pointe d'Esny on travel convenience as well as fishing duration.
The captain and crew, heavy tackle, rods and reels, lures and bait, fighting gear, outriggers, fuel and safety equipment are included. Food and drinks are not included unless agreed when the request is accepted. Andeor can help coordinate that arrangement before you commit to the day.
Overnight fishing from Grand Baie
The private Tomi Bank overnight charter meets at Sunset Boulevard in Grand Baie, with check-in at 15:45. It runs from 16:00 until 16:00 the following day, combining evening and morning fishing with sleeping berths, a galley and onboard facilities. The skipper selects the route and overnight location according to conditions and permissions. Choose it because the group wants to stay aboard overnight, not simply because it is the longest option. It occupies parts of two holiday days, which matters when arranging accommodation and other activities.
Build your booking request around the whole day
Send Andeor your preferred date, hotel or starting location, group size, children's ages, fishing experience and preferred duration. Explain whether everyone wants to fish or some guests mainly want to accompany the group. Mention your comfort with offshore conditions and any fixed plans after the outing. Those details make it easier to match the charter to the whole group rather than only its keenest angler.
Fish are wild, and none of these charters guarantees a catch. Offshore water is rougher than the lagoon, so enthusiasm for fishing and comfort at sea are separate considerations. Weather and sea conditions can also lead to route changes, cancellations or rescheduling, depending on the charter. Keep some flexibility in your itinerary rather than making an important onward connection depend on the planned return.
